Hot Cares NPC is a charitable organisation supported by HOT 102.7FM, although it operates as a separate legal entity, dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing difficult circumstances.

Our initiatives focus on four key pillars:

The Teddython is our annual fundraising event — a 12-hour live broadcast hosted by the HOT 102.7FM team at Papachinos, Broadacres.

On the day, listeners, businesses, and supporters donate funds, goods, and services, helping us reach our 2025 goal of R20 million to support life changing community projects.

This year Teddython takes place on Thursday, 30 October 2025, from 06h00 to 18h00.

You can contribute in any of the following ways:

• Financial donations (once-off or recurring)

• Products such as food, clothing, furniture, building materials, medical equipment, or pet supplies

• Services like plumbing, transport, medical expertise, training, or landscaping

• Educational upliftment – bursaries from early childhood development, primary & high school, to tertiary education and skills development

Yes. Many companies commit to pledges in advance or offer to match staff contributions, which doubles the impact of giving.

Yes. Hot Cares is a registered Public Benefit Organisation, PBO Reference No. 930070149

Yes. As a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), Hot Cares can issue Section 18A tax certificates for all qualifying financial donations and goods in kind.

A Section 18A certificate is an official certificate that Hot Cares, as a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), can issue for qualifying donations in terms of Section 18A of the South African Income Tax Act. This certificate allows you to claim a tax deduction for the value of your donation when submitting your annual tax return to SARS.

Who qualifies? Both individuals and companies may claim the deduction.

What qualifies? Donations of cash or goods in kind (not services or time).

Why it matters? Your donation not only makes an impact in the community, but it can also reduce your taxable income.

Yes. Hot Cares is a Level 1 BBBEE contributor, so your support also enhances your company’s CSI and BBBEE profile.

Many donors plan their budgets early, so we encourage businesses to commit ahead of Teddython. While we can’t guarantee live exposure for every contribution during the broadcast, early pledges allow us to plan more effectively and do our best to acknowledge your support on air or online.

Absolutely. While Teddython is our main fundraiser, Hot Cares operates year-round. You can make donations or offer services at any time to support ongoing projects in the community.

Your contribution helps fund a wide range of community upliftment projects focusing on our 4 key pillars — from supporting schools to providing medical assistance, food relief, and animal care.

You can support Teddython 2025 in the way that suits you best:

Online:
Visit www.teddython.co.za/#donate/ to donate securely via Payfast using credit card or instant EFT. You can choose a once-off donation or set up recurring monthly contributions for up to 12 months. Donations of goods and services can also be pledged online.

By Phone
Call the dedicated Teddython line on 010 880 8351 (30 October only) to make your pledge directly with our team.

In Person
Join us at Papachinos Broadacres on 30 October 2025. We’ll have credit card facilities, as well as the option to give via cash or SnapScan.

Yes, overseas supporters can donate online via our secure portal. Please note that Section 18A certificates are only valid for South African tax purposes.
