Teddython 2020

Hot Cares NPC  Registration No 2019/146034/08  |  PBO Reference No. 930070149  |  B-BBEE Level 1 contributor

At Hot 91.9FM, community is at the heart of everything we do and it’s through Hot Cares that we’re able to meaningfully touch the lives of hundreds individuals in need.  It’s our birthday tradition, to host a Teddython, a 12-hour telethon ‘FUN’draiser, to secure funds for Hot Cares projects in the year to follow. At our inaugural Teddython in 2017, just over R1 million was pledged. 2018 saw the bar raised as we exceeded our R1.5 million target, to raise just over R2.1 million in pledges. But our expectations were obliterated in 2019 when we managed to raise a whopping R3.6 million in pledges and donations.

The challenges we’ve faced in 2020 have been unprecedented and it’s no surprise that Hot Cares has been overwhelmed by the desperation within our community. As a result, we are more excited than ever to continue this tradition because we know, and we’ve experienced first-hand, that giving back is the greatest gift of all.

We’ll be celebrating our 6th birthday with our Teddy-thon on Friday 20th November at Papachinos Broadacres with non-stop fundraising planned. From 6AM to 6h30PM, manned by the Hot 91.9 FM presenters and team, the phone lines will be a conduit for our loyal listeners, friends and partners to help us to continue making a difference in the lives of those around us. And, being Joburg’s Best Old Skool and R&B station, we’ve made sure that the entertainment is as awesome as the Teddy-thon initiative, with top local talent performing during the day and prizes throughout the day.

WHY DO WE DO THIS?

Every year Hot Cares reaches out into our community, but 2020 has certainly challenged us with a plethora of opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

Since its inception Hot Cares has provided:

  • Bursaries at all levels of education – from pre-school to tertiary.
  • Assistance for severe medical conditions
  • Aid to victims of crime and/or natural disasters.
  • Upskilling and equipping entrepreneurs to run successful businesses
  • Assistance for renovating schools and community centres
  • Ongoing support to a number of ECD centres within our community
  • Support to various feeding schemes within our community particularly during COVID-19 lockdown
  • Food and financial assistance for veterinary services and other requirements to animal shelters
  • Support and comfort to the elderly

“I am what I am because of who we all are.”  Together we can reach our goal of making a difference in as many lives as possible.

We are inviting you to Make A Meaningful Difference. Call us on the day – 0861 999 919. We’d love to hear from you! Or click *HERE* to make a once off donation or a 3, 6 or 12 month recurring donation; or even better, come down to where it’s all happening at Papachinos Broadacres where there will be credit card and Snapscan facilities available.

If you, your company, or someone you know of is able to help in any way, please get in touch.

Let’s open the channels of giving and change lives for the better, together.
